Pickled Herring 醃青魚

I came across pickled herring for the first time last week in our new gourmet supermarket. I guess it is an acquired taste, my husband had the tiniest nibble and almost spat it out right away. But then he really isn’t a big fish fan. I who love the taste of almost anything from the water, on the other hand, found the vinegary, rich, oily white flesh a true delicacy.

Served on sliced boiled potato accompanied with a dot of sour cream, sprinkled with finely chopped onion and garnished with a sprig of dill, it makes the perfect healthy lunch that isn’t boring. Or better yet, breakfast.

上個星期在附近新開的特色超市找到了北歐的特色小吃醃青魚。這應該算一種有人愛有人恨的食物吧,老公試了一小口馬上等不及腰吐掉,而向來所有水產都熱愛的我,則覺得那醋醃的肥嫩小白魚口感和味道實在是太好了。

煮熟的土豆切片,魚肉放在上面後加上一匙酸忌廉,撒上切細碎的洋蔥再點綴上蒔蘿,口感清淡又開胃的健康營養午餐就完成了。
